Your membership in The Arc is Important because:

• You add your voice to that of all Arc members in speaking for and with people with mental retardation of their rights, their gifts, and their responsibilities.
• You become part of a nationwide effort to give people with mental retardation the help they need to cope with a lifelong disability.
• You offer a welcoming hand to people whose "difference" from others too often causes them to be marginalized.
• You support families whose work of caring for a son or daughter with mental retardation never ends.
