Recreation Policies
Cancellations
If you are unable to attend a program, please call 908-310-3344 (Patti’s cell )or 908-797-7227(Luann’s cell). We will attempt to find a replacement for your space, but if we are unable to do so, you will be responsible for payment of that program. In addition, no-shows will be held responsible for payment of that program and repeated no-shows may jeopardize your participation in future programs.
**Program cancellations due to inclement weather are announced on the recreation sign-up line at least two hours prior to the start of the program. In most cases you will not receive a phone call. Please call the sign up number (908-730-0015) to check the status of a program.
Attire
Please adhere to the suggestions for attire under program descriptions. It is for your comfort and safety. Fanny packs are a good idea to carry your personal items. Staff is not responsible for personal items.
Program Information
Tennis
Tennis meets every Tuesday from 4:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. at the Hunterdon Hills Racquet Club on Route 31 in Clinton Twp. The program runs from September through May. Participants should make a commitment to attend each week and are given the opportunity to compete in the Special Olympics. Sign up by calling 908-730-0015 prior to attending.
Cost: $3.00 program charge each week that is sent to the office with the confirmation sheet.
Bowling:
Bowling meets every Thursday from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at West Hunterdon Lanes in Flemington. The program runs from September through May. Participants should make a commitment to attend each week and are given the opportunity to compete in the Special Olympics. Sign up by calling 908-730-0015 prior to attending.
Cost: $3.00 program charge each week that is sent to the office along with the confirmation sheet
$2.00 per game – Bring to bowling in an envelope with your name (Most people bowl 2 games)
Square Dancing:
The Hunterdon Stars meet each Thursday from 7:15 P.M. to 8:45 P.M. from Sept. through May. You must make a commitment to attend each week. We meet at either Arc Industries or at Echo Hill. The location is printed on the calendar each week. Sign up by calling 908-730-0015 prior to attending.
Cost: $3.00 program charge per week at Arc Industries.
$4.00 program charge each week at Echo Hill. Send program charges to the office along with your confirmation sheet.
Bring .50 cents per week for refreshments.
Transportation:
Link (1-800-842-0531) will provide transportation to tennis and to bowling from The Arc work centers and from CEA. The HelpLine number is 908-735-4357. If your son or daughter is more than twenty minutes late call the Helpline phone number for information.
Following tennis, recreation staff will provide transportation to the recreation program if you are signed up. If you are not attending the recreation program, you are responsible for your own transportation home from tennis.
Following bowling, Link will transport participants to square dancing. If you are not attending square dancing, Link will transport you to either North Hunterdon High School or to the location of square dancing. If there is no square dancing LINK will transport to Arc Industries or North Hunterdon High School . You must arrange to be picked up at one of these two locations or at the bowling lanes. Please be prompt.
We also offer transportation to and from programs for the residents within
our agency. This applies only if staff is not available to transport. Seating is
limited and based upon need. For more information, please call our Ronnie at

Safety Policy
Our highest priority for every participant is his or her safety and well being. We therefore reserve the right to take appropriate action if a consumer's behavior or health constitutes a hazard to themselves/others or infringes on the enjoyment of others. Arc of Hunterdon staff and other appropriate professionals will evaluate each case separately. Following approval per the executive director, final recommendations will be made in writing to each person and their staff/parents/guardian.
These recommendations may include but are not limited to:
- Physically modifying the environment
- One on one staff provided by the participant
- Exclusion from certain types of activities or suspension for a predetermined length of time
Refund Policy
The Arc of Hunterdon County reserves the right to make a final decision concerning refunds. In addition, the individual or family will be responsible for expenses that may occur due to the participant's behavior. This may include but not be limited to costs of transportation, accommodations, and/or communications. Medical expenses incurred on trips are the sole responsibility of the participant, his/her family and/or their insurance carrier. |
