See the enclosed flyer for further information regarding this program.  Due to many requests for this weekend, we are replacing our uncamping weekend that was originally scheduled for April 17th – 20th with this weekend in Lancaster.

Far Hills Rummage Sale

This famous Rummage Sale, held at the Fairgrounds in Far Hills, is New Jersey's

largest and oldest.  You name it, you’ll find it there.  100% of the proceeds support the Visiting Nurses Association’s programs.

Dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes.

Wear boots if the weather has been rainy.  You must be a good walker to participate in this program.

Bring money for lunch and money to shop.

dinner at a restaurant near the lanes and then move on to bowling at Warren Lanes.  Remember to bring

Sunday, May 18

National Trails Day

Help establish a new trail at the Crystal Springs

Sections of the Teetertown Preserve.  Unless the

weather is hazardous, we will be working rain or

shine.  Coffee, tea and donuts will be available at the

day’s start and a picnic lunch will also be free to all

volunteers.  Please bring plenty of water in a

container you can carry as you work. 

Some tools will be provided at the site. However, it

would be appreciated if volunteers could bring

loppers, pruning shears, pruning saws and other

equipment useful for trail cleaning and construction. 

It is important that you wear a pair of tough gloves

and sturdy boots. NO SNEAKERS.   Wear clothing

that will protect you from ticks and bring sunscreen. 

All volunteers will be sent a volunteer registration

form and waiver to be completed.  Please bring this

completed form with you the day of the program.

You must be able to do physical labor in order

to sign up for this program. 

Our participation in this County program

allows the recreation program to be

affiliated with the Department of Parks

and Recreation.  In turn, we are able

to rent their facilities at a much

lower rate.  We encourage everyone to

help us, including parents and staff.

H.E.L.P

This is our first in a series of programs designed to “Help Earth Look Pretty”.

For our first series we will be planting flowers which will later be donated and planted by the participants of this

program.  Following our planting, we will watch an amazing video from the “Planet Earth” series.

The Arc Coffeehouse

The Arc Coffeehouse takes place once a month and features live entertainment, refreshments,

and a coffeehouse atmosphere at the Echo Hill Lodge.  Bring your family and friends.  Admission is free.

There is a small charge for refreshments. 

Tonight our performer is Glenn David. Glenn is returning for his second time

and his performance should not be missed.  He is sure to become one of your favorites.

 Glenn’s specialty is Elvis and Country Western.

“Footloose”

Tonight we will enjoy this performance of “Footloose” at the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope.

“Footloose” is the story of a city boy, Ren, who relocates to a small town. Enrolling at the local high school,

he is appalled to discover the town's adults have imposed a law on "public dancing" and rock music.

Ren quickly sets about changing things while falling in love with the preacher's daughter in the process.

Please eat dinner before you come and bring money for a snack.

Saturday, May 31

Sterling Hill Mine and Museum

Visit New Jersey’s only underground mine located in Ogdensburg and experience

the thrill of touring ¼ mile of tunnels.  During our guided tour we will learn about metal mining

and the men and machinery that made it all work. 

Please wear sturdy shoes and bring a light jacket or sweater.  It’s 55o in the mine,

and you’ll be walking on a surface of hard-packed gravel with shallow puddles here and there.

 Don’t wear your dress shoes or ballroom gown!

Following our tour, we’ll stop for lunch on the way home.

BECOME A VOLUNTEER OF THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT

If you or anyone you know is interested in making a difference in someone else’s life, we have wonderful and rewarding volunteer opportunities waiting! Many of our weekly/monthly programs could use a few

good hands. These include social clubs, coffeehouses, bowling, square dancing and some Saturday programs.

Venturing: 

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women. Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. The Arc of Hunterdon has begun a Venturing Program.  Meetings are held once a month at the Flemington Jewish Community Center. If interested, please contact Patti Johnsen at 908-730-7827, ext. 233.
